An open conversation

A few good questions.

We’re early in the process. Here’s what we know, what we’re exploring and what a feasibility study needs to answer.

What is the Munger Mile?

A proposed connection for walking and possibly biking about a mile long on Munger Boulevard in East Dallas, linking five landmark historic districts to the Santa Fe Trail, Garrett Park, Lower Greenville and Henderson Avenue. It is an early concept; a feasibility study will help determine the specifics.

Who is behind it?

East Dallas neighbors Erin Covert and Courtney Gage are leading the effort, starting with conversations and community walks. This is a neighbor-led proposal, not a final City-approved design.

Will it take away lanes?

The concept explores fewer lanes, slower traffic and a protected path for people on foot and, possibly, on bikes. No final lane configuration has been decided. The feasibility study will need to examine traffic, crossings and what the street can safely accommodate.

Is it for bikes too?

Maybe. Munger is wide enough for a path that serves both, and the feasibility study will tell us what works best. We're talking with people who walk and people who ride.

How is it paid for?

The next step is a privately funded feasibility study. Construction funding has not been established. We are early, and the study will help clarify the scope before decisions about later funding.

When would it be built?

There is no construction date. A feasibility study comes first, followed by engineering, City coordination and funding decisions. The concept images show possibilities, not a promised design or schedule.

How can I help?

Follow along, share the idea with neighbors or email info@mungermile.org with your questions and observations. More community walks are planned; neighborhood input will help shape what we study.
